Tennis Rules & Rules Of Tennis
Welcome to my tennis rules page. The idea is to brush up on any un certain rules as there are literally hundreds of rules of tennis and it can definitely be quite mind boggling at times.
Tennis first came around in the 1400s when the French monks used to play "Jeu de paume" in their monasteries. They used to hit a ball of wool over a piece of string and ever since those early days kings, pioneers, and tennis associations have added more and more rules. Previous to the 1900s there was no Tie-breaks and the servers had to keep one foot on the ground at all times. Nowadays there on a role, inventing rules for everything such as - Logo sizes
- Time limits
- Foreign languages limitations
- Temperature,
- Wind speed limitations
- And, of course, what to do if the ball hits a bird.
You name it, they got it! They also introduced the electronic "hawk-eye" review technology which allows players up to three challenges each set. If the player challenges three times incorrectly he or she is not allowed anymore challenges till the next set. However, if it goes to a tie-break then each player is given a one free extra challenge.
Either way, I will not to get into all the rules. Instead just the important ones seeing as many of them you are likely to never encounter. Plus, it would mean plowing through a rule book the size of a encyclopedia.
