Having been a victim of this elbow injury (scientifically known as lateral epicondylitis) for over 3 years, and eventually having cured it after recommendations from numerous specialists, I can understand how frustrating this injury can be!
Don't worry, this elbow pain nearly caused me to stop playing tennis all together. Eventually I cured it with tennis elbow home cures, as can you. In this section I do not pretend to be a sports Dr or have any experience in the medical field.
Instead, I will share some knowledge that took me many painful years to figure out through the good old method of trial and error! That is why I feel I can help you on tennis elbow treatment :-)
Not sure if it is lateral epicondylitis?...Try picking up a fairly heavy object like a small table or stool with your palms facing the floor. If you felt pain, it is likely to be lateral epicondylitis.
Before I start, please read:
Tennis elbow exercises
before even thinking about elbow surgery. It is not because I am anti elbow surgery. Actually, I know many people who have cured their tennis elbow problems thanks to it.
However, it does not get rid of the underlying problem of why you got the injury in the first place.
This problem is that the muscles that connect to your elbow (extensor carpi radialis brevis muscle), from the forearm, do not have enough resilience to withstand the hitting of hundreds of tennis balls a day.
Once the muscle becomes tired it is significantly weakened. This loads stress onto the tendon connecting to the bone, the tendon will then be over-worked and microscopic tears and inflammation will occur! And then we have ourselves a lateral epicondylitis!
So this is why the most important thing to do for tennis elbow treatment is to do the elbow exercises.
So that after surgery it doesn't just come back again!!
A new inexpensive product that you can use to strengthen the muscles that directly effect your elbow is the Thera Band Flex Bar.
It works the more subtle eccentric exercises or the muscles you would use if you "lower" a weight. If you all ready have tendonitis I would recomend starting out with the yellow bar as it is lightest (6lbs of force to bend)

Finally, in many cases lateral epicondylitis is caused or facilitated by bad technique! Please take a look at the:
