Tennis Ball Machine Reviews And Information Tennis Tutor Ball Machine

Are you trying to find a suitable tennis ball machine? If so, it can be daunting! These days, there seems to be much debate over the pros and cons of different tennis ball canons.

Using a ball machine can really improve your game in a short space of time. Due to gained rhythm and consistency.

They are very appropriate for beginner and intermediate players. Furthermore, with the Tennis Tutor Ball Machine which is a portable tennis ball machine that can be towed like a suitcase, advanced players are provided with a way to gain a lot of consistency through the variety of propulsions, oscillations, flexibility and speeds that the machines offer.

Lobster Portable Tennis Ball Machine

I have used several tennis ball launchers. They were of great use to me when preparing for Orange Bowl in America.

The Top Five Brands that you might wish to consider are:

  • Lobster

  • Tennis Tutor Ball Machine

  • SAM

  • Silent partner

  • Wilson

Important Tennis Ball Machine Information - My Advice

Buying a tennis ball launcher is a decision which requires a fair amount of research.

These are the 4 most important considerations!

  • Portable Tennis Ball Machine Reviews (Top Speed!)

An important aspect to the improvement of your tennis game will be that your launcher is able to vary the pace of the balls it is feeding to you. This is a great challenge to any level of development. While Lobster Ball Machines are a good basic item, unfortunately their weakness is that the speed at which they expel the balls is slow. This is especially noticeable with the "Lobster 201 ball bucket," It can only hit at 60 mph if you are lucky.

Please note: 60 mph is a slow speed if you take into account that the use of spin will reduce the speed severely. The Tennis Tutor Ball Machine avoids these problems because it has a higher basic speed.

  • Portable Tennis Ball Machine Reviews (Propulsion!)

"Propulsion" is basically the way in which the ball is shot out of the launcher. There are two ways this can happen, the first is through air pressure and the second, is through spinning wheels. The best tennis ball machines have the spinning wheels. This type of propulsion can give you a greater range of spins, more speed, and it is quieter!

The ball machine companies are aware of the superiority of the spinning wheel models... which therefore cost a couple of hundred dollars more than the air pressure apparatus!

Beware: If you do buy an air pressure machine, the ball will NOT shoot out of the tennis ball canon with spin... you would have to buy an adaptor which is around 50 dollars.

  • Portable Tennis Ball Machine Reviews (A/C Vs Battery Power!)

You would think with todays technology, all the tennis ball canons would have combined A/C power and battery power. Unfortunately it is not so, giving us another choice to make!

If you have a plug socket handy, by the court or within a few meters or you are up for tangling with an extension cable, then the power cable machines have preference. I find the power cable more reliable. Playmate Ace, Playmate Smash and Playmate Genie are solid and reliable. They are up there with the best ball machines.... However this is reflected in the price.

If you do not have a plug socket close by, then you have to go for the battery machines! But a battery machine is not bad news, the battery will last anywhere from 4 to 8 hours and can be charged in 10-20 hours.

Lobsters Elite Range and the standard Wilson Portable Ball Machine, are great battery powered tennis ball launchers.

  • Portable Tennis Ball Machine Reviews (Oscillation!)

Oscillation is a nice sentence filler for the directions and angles your tennis ball launcher will fire at.

There are TWO factors to consider.

Horizontal Oscillation. This is what you should expect your typical tennis ball launcher to come with... It is the ability to move the ball from side to side, laterally. If it does not have horizontal oscillation then do not buy it.

    Wilson Ball Machine With Remote

Horizontal and Vertical Oscillation. Until recently this was considered extremely rare and pricey, around 30-40 thousand dollars was not uncommon! Then Lobster bought out its Elite 3 model which costs well under a tenth of that at around 1500 dollars. This reasonable price, certainly took me by surprise!

As you may have guessed, horizontal and vertical oscillation means switching the trajectories of the balls laterally and vertically. It is very realistic and emulates the tennis game while demanding the use of necessary footwork.

    Tennis Ball Canon (Summary)

In short, after all this tennis ball machine information, you need to ask yourself what you want your tennis ball launcher for.

If it is for fitness, then the cheaper air pressure ball machine is a good option. They will run you around just fine, and I recommend the Lobster Hybrid 301, Lobster Tournament 401 and the Lobster Elite Freedom.

If the ball machine is for a player striving to improve his or her tennis strokes, then you may well want to look into spinning wheel machine. I believe the Lobster Elite 3 is one of the BEST tennis ball machines and along with the Tennis Tutor Ball Machine they are the most complete tennis launchers. Additionally, they are small, portable, excellent value for money and have fantastic battery life. They also provide the two types of oscillation.

These portable tennis ball machine reviews are, of course, is merely my opinion from what I have used and seen throughout the years. I suggest reading more on the different types of ball machines in the links above! I hope you have enjoyed my page and gained some further insight.
