Although there are MANY rules in tennis. With these simple rules of tennis mastered, a spectator or novice will understand what is going on! And, he or she will be able to play a valid match :-) Tennis game rules are long and tricky but these basic tennis rules are rules for tennis beginners. So lets take a look at the golden 10 rules in tennis

Rules for Tennis #1 The ball cannot bounce twice, thrice, or more. I think most people will know this rule... Either way it is is definitely in the top 10 Rules for Tennis #2 When starting the point with your serve, you have to: Serve cross court into the service box. (Check out

section for any uncertain tennis language). Keep your foot behind the line, or else you get a foot fault and loose the point. You may serve however you like, even backwards... as long as these rules apply. Tennis Game Rules #3 A set is first to 6 games, if it gets to 6-6, a tie-break of first to seven points is played. The match is best of 3 sets. Basic Tennis Rules #4 If a ball touches any part of the line it is "In" Tennis Game Rules #5 In a rally or point, each person can only hit the ball once. If u miss-hit the ball and the ball makes contact with the racquet twice, you loose the point. Rules In Tennis #6 If any physical object moves onto the court while you are playing a point, it is called a "LET" and you repeat the point. Rules In Tennis #7 The player looses the point if he hits the ball outside of the singles lines (the inner lines of the court), into the net, or touches the ball with anything APART from the tennis racquet. Basic Tennis Rules #8 The coin toss takes place before the warm up, and the player has 4 choices: Receive Serve Pick a certain side Give the choice to the opponent Rules For Tennis #9 Receiver can stand anywhere he or she likes to return the serve. If the returner hits the serve before the ball has bounced, he or she looses the point. Tennis Game Rules #10 You switch sides every 2 games... except for the first game of each set, in which you switch immediately after it is won.
With these simple rules for tennis done and dusted, tennis should seem much more understandable!
