Definition of ¨Let¨ In Tennis

What is a let in Tennis?

Answer:

Hi,

A "let" originally meant a reply of the point after a serve had hit the net and passed over into the proper service box.

Nowadays, the Americans have generalized its meaning to the replaying of any point. So, for example, if a ball were to roll across the court or some out of the ordinary occurence were to occur in the middle of the point, a ¨let¨ could be called.

Hope I defined it for you,
Max
