8 Basic Rules for Playing Tennis - Tennis Rules Regulations

So its back to the basic rules for playing tennis! After you have read through this article, I'm confident you will be ready to play a game of tennis knowing the tennis rules regulations. Maybe even a competitive tournament :-)

8 Basic rules for playing tennis!

tennis court dimensions RULE #1

In singles, you a required to have "single sticks" in place. To be exact, they have to be 3 inches to the left of the outer tram line. In doubles you play without the sticks.

RULE #2

When you switch sides after the first game. There is no break, just straight round!

RULE #3

You are only allowed to leave the court once per set. It has to be when the set is finished.

RULE #4

If the ball bounces or the opponents side and the spin or wind carries it back onto your side, it is a pretty amazing shot! It is also your point :-)

RULE #5

If the opponent touches the net, or reaches over the net, it is your point.

RULE #6

If the ball touches the net and goes over, the point continues as normal. If it's a serve, the point is repeated.

RULE #7

You can hit the ball anywhere in the singles court, the only concern is when you serve! You have to serve diagonally into the box closest to the net.

RULE #8

Tennis rules regulations gives a time limit of 30 seconds between each point and 2 minutes at change over.
